Help Anthony beat Cancer!

Welcome!

We are starting this fund on behalf of Anthony DiScipio or “Bub” as most of his family and friends call him. He is 6 years old and is the sweetest and funniest little boy. Yesterday, November 10th, 2020 Anthony was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and our lives will be forever changed.

Anthony will be facing at least 2-3 years of chemotherapy treatments starting immediately which involves multiple trips to the hospital a week. While his dad continues to work his mom will be taking a leave from work in order to take care of Anthony during this long road to recovery as well as caring for his 2 sisters. The family will be taking a huge financial loss. We are asking for your generosity in helping with the cost of insurance co-pays, travel expenses, and loss of income expenses.

Over the course of the past two to three weeks there have been some changes in Anthony that we noticed. Recently his skin slowly started getting a yellowish tint to it, he occasionally complained of mild headaches (which he never had before), and this past weekend he was having a difficult time riding his bike short distances without his legs becoming tired. Anyone that has had the pleasure of getting to know this little guy knows that he has always been full of energy. If he isn’t chasing his sister around the house, you would find him doing handstands or walking on his hands in the livingroom or kitchen, so when he was getting tired after a short bike ride we became concerned. Monday morning he was taken to get blood work, and yesterday morning his amazing pediatrician called first thing in the morning to get him to the Emergency Room because he needed a blood transfusion. His numbers were very off, his red and white blood cell count as well as his platelet count were all low. After having more blood taken and tested in the Emergency Room the Doctors came back with some of the worst news you can recieve as a parent. Our boy has Leukemia. The past 24 hours has been an absolute wirlwind of emotions, but there is one thing that was made absolutely clear. Our boy is AD_Strong. Only being six years old there is definitely an innocence and obliviousness to him about the situation, but he has handled this whole thing better than any of us have at this point. We had a difficult discussion with Anthony yesterday explaining to him how he has Leukemia and we have a long 2-3 year road of treatment ahead of us to get better. His only response was that we shouldn’t worry because hes got this!! At that moment we knew he was right, he does ‘got this’. That is the exact moment we switched from a grieving family, to a family in recovery, because our little man showed us what real strength is and gave this family exactly what it needed.. We want to take this moment to thank every single family member and friend who has taken the time to reach out with their love and support over the past day, it has meant the world to Anthony and everything to us. Also, a thank you to all the staff at Albany Medical Center who has been beyond amazing to our family thus far. Please keep Anthony in your prayers and we will be posting with regular updates, pictures, and videos of our buddy and family through every step of the road ahead. Until later, stay #AD_Strong
