Operation Bring Danny Home

This is my Dad. His name is Francis Dana Malcolm, everyone calls him Danny. He is a U.S Marine veteran who served in the Viet nam war as part of special forces.
For the last 5 1/2 years my Dad has had many medical issues. Starting with the diagnosis of MS.  Which has been linked to serving in the military and coming into contact with Agent Orange.  Shortly after being diagnosed, he suffered a heart attack and it was determined that he needed a quadruple bi-pass.  The procedure wasn't enough to save his heart.  He needed a heart transplant.  He was blessed with his new heart in May of 2012.  He was full of gratitude for the donor and to God. Or, as he would say, the Big Man upstairs.  His recovery wasn't easy but he managed well. Up until this past year he remained stable with minor set backs here and there.  For the  last year he was hospitalized 3 times due to his heart going into rejection.   On April 1st of this year, during a hospital stay, his heart stopped.  The doctors were able to save him but not without damage.

He has been in the hospital ever since. It has been determined that there is brain damage due to the loss of oxygen.  There has been many complications since being revived after he coded.  Infections, breathing complications, and the realization that he is going to need care for the everyday things.

All he wants is to come home.  To be surrounded by his family and friends.  Especially his youngest grandson, my son Jakob. There is a special bond between the two of them and they need each other. My Dad may need him a little more right now but, to Jakey,  no one can compare to his Papa.

The last few months have been trying for our entire family. Anyone who knows him understands his very strong and at times cocky attitude.  We all love and miss that very much.  I miss being able to ask him something mechanical and working it out together. Or being taught how to use his power tools because he knows I'm the only one of us girls that can handle it.  I miss our disagreements over stupid things because I'm just as stubborn as he is.
As heartbreaking as it is to witness this once strong, active Marine in this state, we know he needs to come home.  That is going to require 24 hour care. I am hoping to get contributions for these expenses just until we can get back to some sort of normalcy and work.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
 Love,
