First things first, thank you so much for taking  the time out of your day to read this. My name is Raychel and I've wanted to study abroad for over 4 years now (I'm currently a sophomore in high school).  I never expected to be able to convince my parents to let me take advantage of this wonderful life changing opportunity, but somehow I managed to gain their support. The only issue is that I managed to convince them a whole three days after scholarship applications were due and we can't afford to pay for it all.

The benefits go far beyond learning another language. I hope that life in Wallonia (French speaking Belgium) will help me gain a better grasp of not only Walloon culture, but also American culture and myself as well. This will be an opportunity for me to put myself out there, exceed my limits and overall, it will help me to grow as a citizen of the increasingly globalized world we live in. I will experience an entire life in only ten months. By the end of those ten months, I would have another family and  another home an ocean away. 

I may have been raised in the United States, but I will "grow up" in Belgium if we can manage to raise the funds in such a short amount of time.
