FAMILY OF 4 NEEDS A HOME

Donation protected
Never in my wildest dreams would I ever imagine having to share this publicly, nor even ask for help. But I’m desperate and maybe someone out there can help us.

A few months ago, the condo association we had been living in for 11 years decided to discriminate against our family because (1) we have small children, and the neighbor below is hates hearing kids run and play; and (2) because my husband is a man of color. The legalities and details are too many and I will be taking legal action as soon as I resolve the situation I’m in now.

Fast forward to October, after the association had asked us to move and I went into a legal battle with my landlord (thinking I could find a place right away and move us out), suddenly we are homeless. My two kids and I are living with my mom temporarily but my husband, who is a diabetic, heart patient and has pancreatic cancer is separated from us and living on a couch somewhere. This entire experience has been extremely traumatic for us, but particularly for my 12-year-old son who has Autism.

I’ve spent months, countless hours and getting no sleep at all looking for places but everything is very expensive and completely out of our budget. Needless to say, the “down payment” to move into a new place is thousands of dollars. In the last weeks alone, we’ve spent so much money on hotels already that its insane and I’m losing my mind.

All I want is for us to find a place, however small, just as long as we can be together again. I know that there are so many other people out there right now, sadly even in my own community, who are living in their cars with their kids because the market and financial situation is absurd. I know that my situation may not seem like a big deal but, put yourself in my shoes for a second: two kids (2 years old and 12 years old); a husband who is diabetic, a heart patient and is battling pancreatic cancer; and myself, a 40-year-old mom and wife who would give her own life just so that my kids and their dad could be together again. I never envisioned this ever being my situation, but it is. And sadly, it could be anyone’s situation because life and the economy are so uncertain these days.

All I ask is for some compassion and help. And I’ve made a promise to God that my sole goal in life will be to pay it forward and help others in need once my family and I have a new home.
