On Monday March 30, Jim Connelly was admitted to the hospital for a routine hip replacement. Later that afternoon, he started having blood pressure issues in the recovery room. After 2 emergency exploratory surgeries, 24+ units of blood tranfusions and 3 cardiac events requiring CPR, they finally found a hole in the back side of his femoral artery. A third surgery was performed to repair the artery. He is currently in a medically induced coma, on dialysis and is fighting for his life. He is a very tough, strong man and we are all confident he will make it through this, but it is going to be a very, very long road. Weeks in the hospital followed by a potential of months in rehab. His girlfriend Annie, his kids Lisa and Mike, and his ex-wife Linda have been by his side the entire time
Besides his health, the biggest concern right now is money. It is unknown when, if ever, he will be able to go back to work in any capacity. Annie has had to take time off of her part time jobs to be near him. They live 3 hours from the hospital, so the costs of gas and hotel rooms are also adding up quickly, as well as the regular bills and rent at home. . Jim is a retired fire fighter and forestry special deputy warden who has saved MANY lives in his life. I’m hoping that while he’s fighting for his own life, we can help make things a little easier for those around him so that when he does come home (and he will), he will have less to worry about. Every little bit helps, even if it’s just sharing this link with others. Thank you.
