It's a reality that none of us should have to bear, and yet, this past weekend, we said our final goodbyes to one of our dearest friends, Hector.

Hector wasn't just a friend; he was a devoted father to a 9-year-old boy, a caring brother, and a loving son. His journey was one of relentless courage and resilience. Several years ago, he underwent a life-saving lung transplant, but the path to recovery was anything but easy. Hector faced a constant cycle of hospital visits, battling one health issue after another. Despite technically losing him briefly a few months ago, he refused to surrender to the challenges that life threw at him.

For years, Hector lived tethered to an oxygen tank, undergoing dialysis three times a week. His life became a relentless dance between hospitals and clinics. Home became a distant memory as he fought each day to hold on. On Friday night, his breaths became shorter, his parents rushed him to the hospital. Tragically, by the end of the night, doctors informed us that there was nothing more that could be done.

The following morning, Hector, with undeniable courage, asked to see his son one last time. Moments after that heartfelt goodbye, he took his final breath, free from the pain and suffering that had defined his recent years.
