We are requesting your help to assist with her outstanding bills and debts for the alternative medical expenses she acquired. Her story is below.

***Please note, Gail passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, April 18th. With many outstanding bills and debt related to her condition and treatment, your donations will help to cover these outstanding costs. Given the timing of her recent divorce where she lost her various forms of insurance coverage and receiving the cancer diagnosis, she was not able to receive new insurance coverage. Therefore, all expenses including her cremation are being paid out of pocket and she has no available insurance of any kind including life insurance or critical illness. Your contribution is greatly appreciated!***

My name is Gail Downham. During the month of my 50th birthday in October 2018, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  At first, it seemed that my initial treatment was successful.   I celebrated and returned to living in gratitude instead of fear.

Now we have learned that the cancer has returned and that it has spread.

Before the diagnosis, I was a person, young-at-heart and working hard to fulfill my dreams and to make a difference in this world.   I am still that same youthful person, dedicated to making a difference in this world.   Over the past few years, as a start-up practicing therapist, I have had the privilege of helping dozens of people.   When I am well enough, I look forward to returning to that much-needed work.

For my entire adult life, I have always paid my own way.   I have not been the person who has asked for help.   I have been the person others have come to for help.   Now, I must humbly ask for help from those who are able.   Once I am well, again, I will gratefully resume my role as a someone supporting and helping those in need around me.

I am committed to beating cancer and recovering my full health.  So far, I am making progress, but resources are running thin.   Overcoming cancer gets expensive and I am not well enough to work right now.   With your help and God’s, I will succeed in recovering my health and being able to work again.

I am not doing this just for me, but for my amazing son and my terrific family, as well.  My son, Mitchel, is a recent graduate, artist, writer, athlete and the light of my life.   I am not ready to leave him.  I am not ready to leave my family.

I want to be here to fulfill my role in helping to make this a better world.   I want to be here to meet and help my future grandchildren.   I am far from ready to leave.   With your generous help, I am confident that I can get well and continue to make a difference in this world for years to come.

Why are we asking for so much money in a country (Canada) that has free medical care for all?

This is a very reasonable question. Initially, I relied on Canada’s allopathic medical system and we thought it had worked. Unfortunately, shortly after completing that treatment the cancer returned and spread. Now, I have been assured by my oncologist that the conventional or allopathic medical system has nothing more for me in terms of disappearing the cancer. They can offer pain medication to help me stay as comfortable as possible as my body and health diminishes. But that is it.

Fortunately, there are alternative medicines and methods that have the potential to completely overcome this cancer. These medicines and measures that have been matched to my body and to this disease are in common use in many other parts of the world are not covered by the Canadian health care system. I hope that they will be in the future. But that will not be in time. They are even covered by health insurance in some parts of the world, such as Germany and Japan. Compared to the enormous costs for allopathic cancer treatment, these medicines and measures are not expensive. Yet they are beyond my means. So, my life depends on raising this money to pay for the only care that has the possibility of allowing me to get well.

Whatever you can afford and feel moved to donate is received in full gratitude.   Prayers also are very welcome.

Thank you and be blessed,

Gail Downham
