Hello and thanks for taking the time to check out this page. My sister Leslie Fridal went in to have the pouch surgery she has been waiting to do for years. It consists of building a pouch internally out of her intestines so that she does not have to have a bag on her side and live a easier and fuller life. My sister was given drugs a type of chemo when she had to get the bag originally that made her loose her taste and smell and on top of that she had the bag area placed on her stretch marks that made the bag come off often. She also finally lost the weight and had her share of the money to do it (with the help from some of you from a previous go fund me).
All went well with the surgery and then she spiked a fever and had bad abdominal pain. Surgeon decided to open her up again because maybe something was leaking or twisted, but he found nothing. Took her to the ICU after second surgery and then went down hill from there. Her white blood cell count was almost at 50000 normal is about 4000, her kidneys begin to shut down and she had to do dialysis.
She is still in the ICU and has a long road ahead of her. She had the surgery in Los Angeles, because there are only two doctors in the US that perform the BCIS surgery. I am confident that things will get better for her and I feel awful asking for any help, now in addition to the previous go fund me, but I am willing to put my pride aside if it means making things a little easier for my sister when she does get out of the hospital and is able to finally come back home.
Thanks for your time
Hank
