Please allow me to introduce myself, I am Justin Menendez, and on July 20, 2022, my life changed forever. I felt so bad, I finally gave up and went to the ER. When I arrived, I was rushed straight back. I was having bad chest pains and my o2 stats were in the 70's. I remember a lot of blood being drawn and being placed on oxygen. The doctor came in and said, Mr. Menendez you are extremely sick and we are going to admit you. Less than 24 hrs later I was in a coma fighting for my life, my family was called to come say their goodbyes because the doctors didn't believe I would make it through the night, I spiked a fever of 109°F. I ended up spending 30 days in a medical coma were it was touch and go most the time. But my will to carry on was strong, after my coma I spent 30 more days in the MICU, 30 day in a regular hospital room and the rehab where I had to relearn everything. I spent a total of 100 days in the hospital, but saving my life came at some major cost. The medicines that were used to save my life came at cost, they killed most of my extremities which has resulted in multiple amputations. We need help getting back on our feet, I am unemployed and will be for some time. With all that said, I am asking for your help, please donate and help get me and my family back on our feet. Now 1 year later my right foot is still trying to heal. I'm currently on week 6 of a 12 week stem cell course. I am having a decent response to it. My left leg is fully healed and I'm currently being fitted for a prosthetic leg. My next battle will be my right hand. I will be having a series of surgeries to increase the web depth, to be better suitable for MCP drivers. I am also having laser therapy on both hands to help decrease the scaring from the tape burns, this is being done to help decrease the limited range of motion as a result from the scaring. To think one year ago I was fighting for my life, I have overcome many obstacles but I still have a long road to recovery.
