My name is Mike and I have created this page to raise money for a surgery for my wife Chantelle. She has recently been diagnosed with a condition called Severe Cervical Stenosis. In laymens terms Cervical Stenosis causes blockage and pressure on the nerves in the neck area of the spine. It causes severe pain, burning and numbness in the arms. If left untreated for a long period of time it can even cause paralysis.
This all started three years ago when Chantelle found herself in a neurosurgeon's office telling her the only option for her was a fusion in her neck. Well, the surgery was done and the surgeon called it a success even though her pain never got any better. In fact her pain and symptoms have progressively gotten worse over the past three years. After countless appointments and numerous second opinions she was told there was nothing else to do for her and she would have to learn to live with the pain. Through a leap of faith Chantelle was able to contact the Laser Spine Institute and they agreed to look over her history for a possible solution. The wonderful doctors there were able to study all her records and find she had been misdiagnosed three years ago and diagnosed theSevere Cervical Stenosis. Everything was great and we were set to make the trip to Cincinatti Ohio for the surgery when we were devestated by the news that our health insurance would not cover the surgery. We went through all the processes and began the appeals process however the insurance company would not budge. We were told the amount for the surgery will be $25,000. With me working for the county who claims to still be in a recession and Chantelle not being able to work full time for the past three years this amount of money seems to be unrealistic. So I have decided to put this information out there for our friends and co-workers who may want to offer their support. As of now it is not an option for Chantelle to not recieve the surgery. Her pain has gotten to an all time high in the past couple months and now with the chance of paralysis we have to go forward with the surgery.
