Celebration Of Life

On Dec 27th, our lives changed forever when we received a phone call informing us that there was a horrific accident that claimed the lives of two of our loved ones, Nurys Blanchard (Massiel's Step mother) and Edwin Castro ( Massiel's husband) and left our beloved Massiel Blanchard clinging to life and barely breathing, A violent man, with no regard for human life driving erratically at speeds upwards of 100mph fleeing from the police, is responsible for our unspeakable loss.

Massi was med flighted to a nearby hospital where she remained in a coma with a very traumatic brain injury. Her daughter, Aimee, and us family remained by her side steadfast in her belief that her mother would make a full recovery. The doctors informed us on February 1st that Massiel had minimal function and that there was no hope for her recovery.  The impossible decision was made to respect Massiel's wishes and remove her from life support. On February 6th, with her daughter holding her hand and her family surrounding her, she was removed from life support. Aimee remained steadfast in her faith that she would witness a miracle. After breathing on her own for 10 days, Massiel passed away with her daughter by her side.

Throughout this tragedy, Aimee did not leave her mother's side and continued to display unwavering faith in her mother's recovery. Aimee's strength and resiliency during this time of unspeakable sorrow has inspired us all! She is her mother's daughter!

We are asking for help in Celebrating Massi's life! She brought light, love, and laughter everywhere she went.  Instead of a funeral Aimee wants to pay tribute to her mother's vivacious spirit by having a Celebration of Life with music, food, laughter, and dancing..Because anyone who knew Massi knew she loved life and she loved to Dance!!!!This is not something that our family usually does, but with this many deaths and with all of us being out of work it has been a struggle to say the least! I would also like that any extra would go to travel expenses and living expenses for my sweet niece!! There are expenses also that my niece Aimee will need to take care of that her mom had, like her car,  insurance, phone bill and rent!  Aimee is 25 and her adult life has just begun, but unfortunately it is different then anything we could imagine!
