La Fabrik

Hi thanks for opening this page.
Today La Fabrik is threatened and needs your help to continue.
Unfortunately, we have to leave our space in Wembley by the end of April. Yes, April!

Fortunately, we have found a better space, available immediately. Moving has a cost, we all know that. Moving so suddenly is even harder, almost impossible. That's why, I am, personally, and  for the first time of my life (being in the artistic industry for over 25 years), reaching for your financial support. I have the possibility to sign a new lease but what is holding me back is the bond and the 2-month rental in advance for a total of:  $16,149.99.

To give you a rough idea of our short deadlines, we would like to be able to move in before mid-April. In this case, all our current projects would not be affected by this brutal change.

For those who don't know who we are at La Fabrik and who I am, let me share our story, my story with you.

Who am I?
My name is Stella Sulak. I am French, I arrived in Perth with my 4 kids and a tourist visa 6 years ago. Two of my daughters dreamed of studying at Waapa and Nida. Both of them got accepted in these very selective art schools. Fulfilling your dreams is my motto and always has been, and so I have done everything I could to stay close to them in Australia. I am now an Australian citizen, after being granted a "Distinguished talent visa". What a beautiful title to start my Australian adventure!

My project is clear, I want to share my culture and language through the art in all its forms. The first part of my project was to create Perth French Theatre because it's my passion. The second part was to create a French Cultural space named La Fabrik

Perth French Theatre
5 years ago I opened in Perth the very first theatre class in french with only 5 students. They were Australian learning french. My dream was to provide Perth with a French theatre, such as Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Most of all, I wanted to create a connection between Australians and french speakers through a commun artistic project.

The beauty of art is that it has the power to unite people of all age and background around respect despite differences. I also aimed to offer an opportunity to speak french in a real context, how much more fun is to practice any language using art rather than simply reading school books.
I wanted to allow french speakers to share together their culture and keep their language alive.

During the last 5 years, I often wanted to give up. Despite the amount of joy, the richness people brought to this project, my journey was or I should say has been really chaotic! In spite of difficulties, today Perth french Theatre is a real community involving more than 50 people.
They are more and more students, looking more and more passionated, I think.
Every year, we create plays in French (with english surtitles), warmly welcomed by a growing public. Thank you for supporting us!

We also created events like : Canapé surprise, Poetic Splash, Les oiseaux chuchoteurs, kids camps in French...

French Cultural space: La Fabrik

Today, the community shows a real interest in a potential French cultural space.
In September 2018 we have started a new adventure in Wembley: La Fabrik is born.

What is La Fabrik?
- Events (free & not) for a large range of audience. Several events are already programmed: Kids for kids, Exhibition & Poetic invasion, Le bourgeois gentilhomme de Molière...
- Available and affordable various spaces for artists and practitioners: visual artists, photographers, musiciens, dancers, wellbeing teachers etc.
- Art classes in French and in English from kids to adults: Theatre, dance, yoga, painting, mosaic, photography, writing etc.
- French immersion program.
- A place to share, an exchange around the french language and culture: Book exchange, conversation, meeting etc.
- Partnership with French related events.

What we have already done so far:
In September 2018, we designed and built the entire decor of the well renowned Bonjour Perth Festival which welcomed 22.000 visitors.
In September & December 2018, we ran 2 French Holiday Programs: a kid camp including theatre, dance and craft. (Average group size 20 kids from 5 to 11 yo).
In October 2018, we hosted the Media-Launch of the Bonjour Perth Festival.
In November 2018, Perth French Theatre produced and performed Notre Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo in French with English surtitles. More than 500 people attended.

These are examples of the main events. La Fabrik is weekly hosting numerous workshops: mosaic, theatre, dance, crafts...

Voilà! This is what La Fabrik is about!
A lot of events, a lot of people, a lot of words, a lot of laugh and a lot of work of course!
If you think this project is something you want to be involved with, if you think you could help sharing this GoFundMe and/or participating, please feel free to believe in our dream and spread the love. Any gesture is warmly welcome.

We would like to be able to sign the lease as soon as possible. I am aware it is a short notice but life is short, isn't it?
Trust me, this new space in West Leederville has an incredible potentiel and we cannot wait to create magic memories with you.

Merci

Stella
