Benjamin’s recovery
Donation protected
Hello everyone! As many of you already know, my son, Benjamin Peralta, was in a serious car accident on May 20th. He and a group of friends and fellow Ballet BC company members were headed out on a long weekend getaway to an AirBnB cabin outside of Vancouver. Several witnesses reported seeing a car weave in and out of traffic, erratically, and going at a very high speed. That car crashed into the car Benjamin was in and it was totaled. The driver was extracted from the car by a team and was life flighted to a trauma hospital. Benjamin was taken by ambulance to another hospital’s trauma unit.
The impact was significant. Benjamin sustained bleeding on his brain, multiple face fractures, and a broken hip, along with multiple cuts and bruises throughout his body. He is still in the hospital waiting for swelling to subside so the surgeons can operate on his face. Hip surgery is scheduled with a specialist (since he’s a professional dancer) for June 15th.
While I’m still figuring out how the Canadian medical system works, I’ve come to realize this will be a long road to recovery. Any donations will go towards misc. expenses incurred from the accident. In the event that the Canadian medical insurance covers the bulk of medical costs (fingers crossed), there is always the college loan to be chipped away at.
Thank you for your prayers, support, and love during this time and in the months ahead.
Love to all,
Catherine (Peralta) Goodrich
