Funeral Expenses for Grandma

Donation protected

Hello Facebook Friends & Family,

It is very difficult to write this and for our family to have reached this point in time. However, we understand that it is a part of life and we are more than blessed to have had the privilege to have our grandmother until this day at the age of 85.

My sister, Gladys, and her husband, Carlos, have been providing care for her in their home to the best of their ability over the last couple of years and with time her health has been deteriorating. It all began with COPD, diabetes and early stages of dementia and has progressed to congestive heart failure. Recently, our grandmother received a Pace Maker to assist her hearts function and hoping to have her a few years longer. She has been in and out of the hospital frequently since October 2018, because her lungs have also been accumulating water preventing her from breathing properly.

We had high hopes of finding the right long term care facility for direct medical attention, comfort and preventing her from continuing climbing the stairs at home. Thankfully, the facility was found and in the process of waiting for an opening she has been in the hospital again since March 12 with respiratory complications and pneumonia.

As of today, when she was supposed to be discharged to the rehabilitation center and eventually moved into her long term care room, we received the news that her left lung has stopped working and must be on the B-Pap ventilator machine. This machine is pumping oxygen directly to the lung like when we blow into a balloon while removing the fluid building up in her lung. Without the use of this machine, her oxygen levels decrease at a rapid rate and prevents her from breathing. While not being able to breathe, she cannot tolerate to chew and swallow preventing her from receiving nutrients.

We firmly believe that God will continue do his will in her life in his time and when he says it is her time, then it will be.  As humans, physical separation is the most difficult part and it's something very difficult to prepare for but we no longer want her to suffer the way she is at this moment, and we must prepare for her departure at any given moment. When she is stable enough to be transferred to rehab, hospice service will be provided to make her as comfortable as possible in her remaining days. Unfortunately, we do not have the funds to pay for the funeral process and we pray that God can provide in this difficult time that happened in a blink of an eye. We want to give her the proper burial she deserves.

On behalf of our family, we thank you for those who have been a part of her life, have showed her love and kindness, and even those who never met her but through a simple video or picture have showed her love. May God bless you and we are eternally grateful for any contribution that you are able to give. Please note that any contributions will be handled by my sister Gladys, her primary caregiver, to establish funeral arrangements.

Please keep us in your prayers, for strength and peace amongst us when the time comes.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call or text us. Thank you and God Bless You.
