Hello from Camden Wilken’s Family:

On October 19th, 2022, our brother Camden was in a tragic, life altering car accident.

The accident happened on a back road at night on his way home in Dunn, NC. Camden was heading home when he swerved to avoid a deer and ended up flipping his car multiple times. Unfortunately Camden wasn’t found until a few hours later; he was unconscious and hypothermic before he was taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to a medical facility in Raleigh.

Camden suffered a severe complete spinal cord injury (broken neck), which he had surgery on the same day to stabilize the fracture. He is currently in STICU (surgical trauma intensive care unit) where he is on a feeding tube, as well as on a ventilator to support his breathing until he’s strong enough to breathe on his own.

The doctors said it was a grade A on the ASIA impairment scale; meaning he has no sensory or motor function, with the exception of some minor movement in his arms.

Camden and his amazing girlfriend, Susan, are expecting their first child together, as she is currently five months pregnant. She has not left his side a single minute since the accident. She has been so supportive, updating family & friends as she continues to stay by his side, spending many nights in the hospital reclining chair to make sure Camden has someone nearby.

The financial responsibility of Camden’s medical expenses and daily living expenses while Susan has been by his side every day, is with the family. We are now facing a very difficult and long road of recovery and responsibility in order to ensure quality of life for Camden and his family; especially with their newborn son coming soon.

Camden is supported by his loving brothers, Dontelle, Justin & Andrew Wilkens and his girlfriend Susan & their expected son.

We appreciate all of the love and prayers for his recovery. We are still very early in this journey but the goal is to continually make progress toward rehabilitating Camden and facilitating all of the equipment, rehab, and associated expenses that will be needed to ensure he and is family will have as much support as possible.
