Aaliyah's Heart Journey

Hello, loving supporters! We have an urgent and heartwarming story to share with you today. My name is Cheryl Pemberton and I am the grandmother of Aaliyah. Meet my grand daughter Aaliyah, a full of life 6-year-old girl who needs your support to overcome a daunting challenge - a life-saving heart surgery. Aaliyah is a bundle of joy who loves to laugh, play, and dream like any other 6-year-old. But behind her infectious smile lies a courageous spirit battling a congenital heart defect that threatens to limit her dreams and adventures. Since birth, Aaliyah has faced numerous medical challenges due to her heart condition, and now her doctors recommend a complex and costly surgery to give her a chance at a normal, healthy life.

The Heart Surgery:

Aaliyah's heart condition, requires immediate attention. The surgery is her best chance at a brighter future. Aaliyah's parents, Randal and Sabrina, have been tirelessly working to provide for their family, but the medical bills are mounting, as well as future costs of travel, medical stay, Aaliyah's medical recovery, and Sabrina being out on FMLA for an extended period of time, leaving them in a state of constant anxiety.

Aaliyah was born February 14, 2017 (Valentine's Baby) with coarctation of the aorta, peri membranous VSD, subaortic membrane, mild aortic valve insufficiency, secundum ASD and aberrant right subclavian artery. Her first heart surgery was on February 22, 2017 at 8 days old. Her current condition requires another surgery which will include a subaortic membrane resection and aortic valve inspection via redo- median sternotomy on cardiopulmonary bypass. This procedure will take place on September 14th, 2023.

Our Goal:

We believe that every child deserves a chance to live a life full of love, laughter, and endless possibilities. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to cover Aaliyah and her family's medical expenses as well as future costs of Aaliyah's recovery and alleviate the financial strain on her family. This will not only ensure Aaliyah's health but also give her the opportunity to experience the joys of childhood that she so richly deserves.
