Can I have my life back, please?

The happy woman singing on a stage on the photo was me, some 10 years ago, but this photo could have been taken even as late as December 2013.  It was Christmas 2013 when through a fatal connection on an online dating website I met a man, who lied to me, wooed me promising a bright future together and once I was in his claws he abused me, took all my money, hurt me and nearly killed me.  All this because I made the discovery that he was a lifetime professional fraudster, using fake names and abusing churches, people and in particular women, in the US, Canada, UK and Ireland, never really caught or punished properly.

He went to prison for assaulting me, spent some trifle sentence there. I had to restart my life from scratch, in a safe house, with £6.00 in my pocket, £7000 of debt owing to banks and only the clothes and few items in my possession I fled from his flat on that fatal night nearly a year ago in May 2014.

I was glad to be alive, but I left everything behind in that flat, and with no keys, no rights to re-enter, with the police failing me repeatedly, with the British legal system and in particular a certain legal aid lawyer failing me, I haven't been able to recover my belongings from him.

What are they? All my musical instruments to a value of about £7000, my irreplaceable music book and score collection going back to my childhood ( I graduated as a music teacher from the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest), all my personal documents, certificates, memorabilia, a hard disc full of family memories, not to mention my basics, clothes, shoes etc. The musical things in particular would be central to my emotional and financial recovery.

My family back in my home country helped as much as they could from their modest means, repeatedly. I personally tried every channel I could think of, to get help. The only thing I won't do is things illegal, I cannot afford to lose my meagre little job in the National Health Service. He seems to be pure evil, refusing to communicate, co-operate with police or with lawyers,  waiting for me either to commit crime by breaking in or spend money I don't have on legal costs.

And this is where I am asking for your help. I came to my wits' end in devising tools for getting my things back. I hired a lawyer but only could afford to pay him for writing a few letters, but they not resulting in any answers, my only option is litigation, and I haven't got savings or sufficient income to fund the roughly £3000-5000 legal bill I was told it could cost. I know, you might say others lost much more, or that the stuff might well not be there. I know all of it, but I find it hard to give up the hope, so I am here to at least try and get that legal paper under way that forces him to allow entry in that cursed flat.

I am hoping that people will understand the long-term effects of domestic abuse, and measure up how such a legal help would help me to step beyond the event that ruined my life. I will appreciate every single donation, my sign of gratitude will be a lifetime commitment to raising awareness of and work against domestic abuse in the UK and beyond.
