Last night in Shirley a families home went up in flames. This family is comprised of a single mom who worked two jobs for years, pursued numerous degrees in nursing and sacrificed many hours with her 3 children, aged 21, 10 & 7 to buy their first home so they could all have their own bedrooms. She accomplished that goal on January 28th. Just 2 1/2 short months ago. The kids looked forward to having their own yard to play in this summer. She is in great spirits as are the kids. No one was hurt. The purchase of this home just two short months ago left the bank accounts depleted from the down payment and closing costs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the outpouring of support from the community thus far. The mom would like to try to keep the name as private as possible right now to protect the children.
Update: I have since added Anike Egbetokum as the beneficiary to this fundraiser. Anike will be able to use this money to begin to rebuild what was taken from her and her family in the blink of an eye. Although the home was insured there is no guarantee that it will cover the entire cost of rebuilding their home in its entirety due to the sky rocketing cost of materials and other expenses. The out pouring of support restores our faith in human kindness.
