I would like start by saying I am not one to ask for help for anything and I am usually the first one to step to help just about anyone always putting myself last when it comes to others. I would like to introduce myself and the situation I've found myself to be in the past year of my life. My name is Shawn and by trade I'm a 35 year experienced electrician with also 35 years experience in Plumbing, HVAC and Refrigeration. I have found myself in a VERY difficult situation financially as of late since I’ve been unable to work this past year due to so many medical situations. I have been out of work on short term disability since August 2024 and no income whatsoever since March of this year. It all started with multiple infections, then I woke up one day and couldn't stand up out of bed my lower back and right leg hurt so bad. About 3 weeks later I woke up with a hernia. Well, if that wasn't bad enough I found out I had a major pinched nerve between C4-5 and C5-6. which was causing muscle atrophy in my left arm and shoulder so basically watching my muscles deteriorating. No strength to even pick up a coffee cup and the harder I tried to lift up, the more my arm would want to go in the wrong direction ! In the meantime, the company I worked for, Sumitomo Rubber closed its doors on Nov. 11th so there's no job to even go back to or the people I enjoyed working with. We were a team and a good one at that ! To make things worse the short term disability ran out on March18th, 2025 so I've had absolutely $0 income since then. I have been fighting ever since then with Social Security for SSDI still to no avail. I put together every last penny I could to buy a trailer to have a place to live. This was mostly funded by the severance package they gave us. I have never in my entire life had anything handed to me and have absolutely always been a hard worker and enjoy doing so. For obvious reasons this has been so physically, mentally and emotionally difficult words cannot even describe. I just recently had ACDF cervical spine surgery on Thursday September 25th and there is a ray of hope. All the muscles in my left arm I couldn't feel actually hurt really bad. First time I'm happy to be in pain since that means the nerve isn't damaged beyond healing. And it’s been pretty excruciating. After the recovery for this I will be having another surgery on my lower spine to hope to feel my right leg again. Good news is after all the tests and everything I finally have some answers and soon enough actual results !! There is so much more it would take days to write. As much as we live in a very difficult world for us all I'm swallowing my pride and I'm praying for help even it's $5 or anything that you can spare. I am just trying to keep up on bills so I can be able to keep my residence and am already on the short list of 30 day eviction notices. Never in my life did I think it would come to this so Thank you so much in advance !
