Hello everyone,

My name is Celine. I’m Irish, married to a Jamaican. During the recent storm, my husband was in Jamaica with our family when Hurricane Melissa struck.

I’m reaching out for your help for my family in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica, who have lost so much after the hurricane devastated our community.

Communication has been extremely difficult due to power and phone outages, but I finally received news through my nephew late last night. Thankfully, my husband and some of my immediate family members are safe and currently staying with my brother-in-law. We have yet to hear from other members of our family. We pray that they are ok too and that we hear from them soon.

Many homes, including those of my imediate family, have been completely destroyed. The photos I received show their homes without roofs, water-damaged interiors, and debris everywhere. My mother-in-law’s home suffered severe damage, the roof over her kitchen, living room, and bedroom was completely torn off, and the entire house is now under 6 feet of water.

My sister-in-law’s house was completely demolished by the strong winds and rain.. everything was damaged.

My nephew’s home lost its roof, and the heavy rains filled the house with water, destroying everything inside.

I’m setting up this fundraiser to help them cover urgent needs such as:

• Basic necessities: food, clean water, clothing, toiletries, and cooking gas

• Essential furniture and kitchen appliances

• Temporary shelter and repairs for damaged roofs and flooded rooms

• Cleanup and rebuilding efforts once it’s safe to return home

Every donation will go directly toward these needs, and I will provide updates so you can see how your generosity is helping my family rebuild their lives.
