Daisy’s Surgery Cost
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jaxson. Yesterday, April 25th, I came home during my lunch break to check on my dog Daisy. Once I was home, I soon realized that something was wrong. She did not want to get up. I called the vet and they advised me to check her gums; they were white. The vet informed me that I needed to take her to an emergency veterinarian ASAP. The emergency vet discovered that she was anemic and that she needed an abdominal X-ray and a blood transfusion. They recommended I go to another emergency veterinarian's office to perform the X-ray. That visit cost around $1,800.00. Once I arrived at the veterinary hospital, they informed me that her red and white blood cell count was dangerously low and would need around $5,000 worth of treatment to see the source. I accepted. Once they performed the abdominal X-ray, they found fluid in her stomach. The fluid had bacteria. She had sepsis. They recommend exploratory surgery to find the cause of the sepsis - without it, she would have to be put down. I love her, so I accepted. The surgery cost $10,460.00. They informed me that they would call me if they found anything detrimental. Around 1 AM, I received a call from the vet. They informed me that she had a tumor the size of a lemon in her small intestines and that the best procedure would be to put her down.
I am heartbroken. I tried EVERYTHING I could to save her and it wasn’t enough.
She had to be put down. She was only 5 years old.
