Fifty percent of the students in our school falls below the state's poverty line, with 85% having free or reduced lunch. Although the county has made huge strides to get technology to the classrooms, many students and teachers suffer. Despite their obstacles, our kids are creative, driven, involved with the school in academics and sports... and want to take ownership of the long school tradition.
The number of classroom chrome books my classroom presently houses is 24. I have 30 students per classroom.
In addition, my yearbook class has a need for 4 document scanners. These are for scanning photos for producing the yearbook, and for scanning old yearbooks to archive and sell to our community, to raise money for additional classroom needs.
Lastly, my TV Production Class desparately needs 8 computer desktops. They are more reliable for editing videos for school projects involving video production. Our current ones are "legacy." That means when they fail, the county does not replace them.
With 6 new Chromebooks, 4 document scanners, and 8 desktop computers... our technology will be better updated! Students will benefit in all three of my 1 hour and thirty minute classes (Creative Writing, Yearbook, and TV Broadcasting / Production).
Please donate to our fund and help open up a world to a student that might have it closed otherwise.
