Hope for Tracy

Hi, my name is Sabrina, and I am Tracy's stepdaughter. Pictured above are the two of us. Tracy has been in my life for over 20 years, and she is one of the most kind-hearted people I know. I have started this page hoping that others will help me bring Tracy from the depths of darkness that she is currently living. In July 2020, Tracy’s life drastically changed. After multiple unexplained falls, confusion, and exhaustion, she was placed in the hospital. Initially, we received news that she would have to undergo brain surgery to remove a cancer-like growth deep in her brain. Doctors informed us that this would be a risky procedure that could result in further brain damage or death, but it was necessary. Tracy was ready to move forward regardless of those risks because she had a 15-year-old daughter to live for. Within a week, Doctors changed her diagnosis from aggressive brain cancer to an unexplainable injury to her brain. She continued to suffer falls, memory loss, speech impairments, vision loss, difficulty using her hands and arms and difficulty with walking and balance, which kept her hospitalized and in therapy for several weeks. It wasn’t until Tracy was released from the hospital that we learned more about what may have happened. It is believed that Tracy developed encephalitis that resulted in a stroke. The life Tracy and her family knew had drastically changed. Tracy was no longer able to work at the state hospital, where she helped patients with mental health disorders for 28 years. Thankfully she had several months of leave saved up from her years of service, so initially, Tracy continued to receive her salary. Tracy received therapy and was followed by Doctors at Duke Hospital. The Doctors determined that Tracy could not return to work, and she was deemed eligible to obtain short-term disability benefits through her state employer. Those benefits were a blessing, but still drastically different from what she earned while employed as a full-time employee. Medical bills continued to pile up, and she began to fall behind on other bills as well. Tracy has developed severe depression as a result of this life alerting experience. She went through the emotions of facing death and leaving behind her 15-year-old daughter and family to having the life as she knew it stripped from her. Tracy is now waiting on her state employer to deem if she is eligible for long-term disability benefits. During this time, she no longer receives a paycheck or assistance from her employer to pay for a portion of her and her daughter’s health insurance. Tracy’s debt is piling up while she waits for the state to determine her eligibility for long-term disability, which may take up to July 2022 to be determined. With her loss of identity and self-worth, financial struggles, and worsening depression, Tracy cannot take care of her or her daughter’s basic needs. She is at risk of losing everything that she owns. Her family and friends have helped her financially, but her debt and needs continue to grow. I’m asking those of you who know Tracy, her family, me and those of you who are complete strangers to give her a lifeline of hope by donating to this fund. She is losing hope and becoming desperate as her situation worsens, and I am very concerned about her. Please lift Tracy in prayer and help me help her find hope and happiness once more. Thank you to those who can donate on behalf of Tracy, as I know she will forever be grateful for your support.
