Chris and Karen talked about being missionaries after their kids were grown. This plan was feasible and practical so they set it aside with their other ideas for the future and continued living their day-to-day lives.
Just recently, God revealed His plan... He wants their kids to be missionaries too. Chris and Karen thought the timing of their plan was good, but prayer has shown them that God's timing is infinitely better. Long story short - Chris, Karen, Katelyn (age 11), Anna (9), Jack (7) and Michael (5) will be leaving in September (2015) to become missionaries.
Chris and Karen are working with the Family Missions Company (FMC) located in Louisiana. As an approved apostolate of the Roman Catholic church, FMC is fully supported by the priests and bishops. Everything they do is aligned with the magisterium and supports the work of Catholic parishes abroad. The goal of FMC is to "make disciples of all nations" so the work done overseas is primarily evangelization. The FMC missionaries teach the gospel to people in remote areas that would not otherwise have access to the Good News. FMC is currently placing families in India, China, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru and the Philippines. The particular destination selected for each family will be determined during the 3 month training which begins in September. Families commit to a minimum of 2.5 years, but often continue serving as missionaries for years after.
Chris and Karen are responsible for all of their family's expenses: travel, food, shelter, visas, clothing, medical care, etc. They need to raise $20,000 to cover the costs of the first 2.5 years. If they are able to raise $30,000 they would have the option of staying for an additional year if the Lord calls them to continue their missionary work.
The picture chosen shows Katelyn, Anna, Jack and Michael in construction gear. They are eager and ready to take on a hard job for the glory of God's kingdom. Please prayerfully considering helping them make this possible.
