Kayla’s Fight Club

Hi my name is Kayla Blick, I am 26 years old and live in Denver, CO! The past few days have been a whirlwind to say the least. I went into the Dr. for a sore throat and shortness of breath and was diagnosed with Leukemia in an Emergency Room on July 11, 2020. Being terrified is an understatement as my mom has currently been battling Stage 4 Breast Cancer for the past 18 months and is now in hospice (so my thoughts of my future went straight to this situation). Luckily, the Dr. believes my Leukemia is treatable I just have a long, hard road ahead of me. After chemo-therapy my Dr. believes I will be infertile and so I have to undergo egg retrieval procedures through a fertility clinic for the next 14 days (not covered by insurance). After that I will be admitted into the hospital for at least 28 days to start a rigorous chemo-therapy treatment. After my chemo treatments, I will have another bone marrow biopsy to determine if I need more chemo or a stem cell transplant. As you can imagine, I am very overwhelmed. I won’t be able to work for a minimum of six months and am starting to stress about paying medical bills and just general living expenses. I have an amazing support system and am so blessed to have everyone in my life but I do need financial help unfortunately. Anything helps and I appreciate you all for standing by me through this scary and unprecedented time. Love you all and let’s kick this thing!
