Kevin’s Liver Transplant
Donation protected
Dear friends, family and kind-hearted strangers,
We are reaching out to you today to share my stepdad, Kevin's story and ask for your support during this challenging time. On December 27th, 2023, Kevin went to the ER after not feeling well for a couple of weeks. We were shocked when Kevin was diagnosed that day with liver failure. The doctors were baffled, as none of the tests came back with any conclusive results. Suspecting a genetic component, tests sent to the Mayo Clinic also could not provide answers and Kevin's condition rapidly deteriorated. Last week a miracle happened, and Kevin was able to receive a life saving liver transplant at OHSU hospital in Portland, Oregon. The transplant went as well as possible but on Saturday Kevin was bleeding a lot and losing far too much blood. He had 7 blood transfusions and multiple platelet transfusions. He was losing so much blood that he had to go back into surgery late Saturday night. Since then, the blood loss has stopped but we have not been able to get his kidneys to start functioning again. He started Dialysis on Sunday and another treatment Monday. They still aren’t working but everyone is hopeful for a turnaround. Although this sounds terrible, he was transferred out of ICU and is starting Physical Therapy. His road to recovery will be long and arduous and we need your help.
Since falling ill, Kevin has been unable to work, adding financial strain to an already difficult situation. Medical bills, rehabilitation costs and the expense of relocating to be near the hospital have taken a toll on Kevin and his family. As he focuses on regaining his health and strength, we want to alleviate some of the financial burden he and my mom Beckie now face.
Your generous contributions will provide Kevin with the support he needs to cover his expenses during his recovery period. Every donation will make a meaningful difference in Kevin's journey back to health.
