Our Story
If you know me, you probably know my dog, Elvis. Three years ago, when Elvis was only six months old, he left his abusive home and moved in with me. Initially, he was fearful of most people, shy and an introvert. Now he is an entirely different dog, full of love and energy.
It was devastating to learn recently that Elvis has been diagnosed with Sarcoma, a type of cancer that occurs in the bones and soft tissues.
Twenty years ago, I was diagnosed with fourth stage kidney cancer (Wilms' Tumor) and had little hope to live. After two surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy, I am so happy and grateful to be able to say I am a survivor, and I would do anything to say the same for Elvis. My dog and I have always been one and the same but now we even have matching scars.
Elvis is my very best friend. He has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and I would be forever grateful if you could please help me get him through this.
How You Can Help
I am a young professional living in Los Angeles and can't afford the vet bills I am facing. Elvis' orignal diagnosis of the lump on his chest cost $404. He had surgery to remove the lump ($859) and has been in recovery over the last two weeks. The vet says he most likely needs another surgery but the next step is "staging" to find out if it has spread to the rest of his body and how far along it is. This process alone costs $700. Anything you can donate would be appreciated, even if it is just words of encouragement. Thank you so much for your support it means the world to us!
