Kyra's Belize Expedition!

Hi everyone! As you may already know, I'm currently attending George Washington University to get a doctorate in Phyiscal Therapy. Last month, I applied through my program to a global health service-learning trip to Belize, and I was lucky enough to be one of only three students in my entire program to be accepted! The trip is seven days during the first week of May.

We are going to Belize to teach school-age children about disabilities. There are a lot of stigmas about disabilities there, and a lot of bullying related to disabilities. Through a combination of theatre, puppetry and story-telling, we are hoping to educate the students and promote inclusion.

Because the application process happened after the spring semester had already begun, I wasn't able to budget for this trip when planning for the school year. I'm working my hardest to scrape together the funds to go, but it's tough while in class and studying for 60 hours a week.
