Our family is deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of father, son, husband, and brother Captain Patrick Ali Gathesha. He died unexpectedly on November 16, 2018, after struggling with complications around high blood pressure. He passed near his home in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where he lived with son George. His son Kambi, daughter Natasha, and wife, Margaret reside in the United States, and sons Mongi and Evans in Tanzania. The loss is devastating to all of us.
We are so grateful for the support of our many family and friends who are sending their condolences, visiting us, grieving with us and helping us through this difficult time. It means the world to us. Dad was a committed family man who loved his children and worked tirelessly to support their dreams. He was kind, compassionate, thoughtful, and loving. Those who knew Captain Patrick knew that he had a kind, generous, and compassionate heart, who loved people and went out of his way to help anyone in need. We have been hearing about so many of these stories, some of which we did not even know about.
With his sudden passing comes the challenge of funeral and burial costs; the major cost being the return of his body back home to Kenya to lay him to rest. Additionally, we face the difficult challenge of relocating his son, George, to another home where his family can surround him, support him, and give him the care he needs.
