My name is Kyrie. My best friend is a furry golden doodle named Lucy. She's about 7 years old (not quite sure, I rescued her from a puppy mill). She's silly, loving, and kind to all animals and humans. Lucy is my hiking pal, my favorite hello, the squeak to my ears, and the fire that fuels me when I'm broken down. Now I'm here asking for help to fuel her in a time I can't do it alone.
On December 12th, 2025, at 10 pm, Lucy had trouble with bowel movements and then started trying to throw up, but nothing would come out. I noticed her stomach was bloated, and she started whining in pain. I took her to the emergency vet and was told she had GDV (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus), also known as bloat, stomach torsion, and twisted stomach. It's a deadly, sudden condition where the stomach fills with gas, fluid, or food, and then the twisting causes the distended stomach to press onto large blood vessels, disrupting the blood flow to internal organs, including stopping the blood flow to the stomach or spleen.
I then had to choose to say my goodbyes and euthanize her or go through with the surgery and save her. So I did it and put myself in $7,000 in debt to give her another chance at life. The spirit Lucy has is one that carries people through storms. Please help her through her storm. Any is appreciated, and Lucy sends her love and thanks to each and every one of you here. Thank you.
Love you so much
Kyrie and Lucy.
