SAMS Jordan Medical Relief Trip

This January, my dear friend Dr. Anu Shivaraju, an interventional cardiologist at Advocate Christ Medical Center (ACMC) in Chicago, as well as Jill Jones, a cardiac technician, will be kicking off the new year by embarking on a medical relief trip to Jordan along with nurses and other physicians through the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS).

I was first introduced to the work of SAMS through one of its leaders, Dr. Zaher Sahloul, who is Christ Hospital's very own Pulmonary & Critical Care specialist.  Check out https://www.sams-usa.net

Anu and the team from Christ Hospital will be visiting the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan, which is home now to approximately 80,000 refugees. She will be working in one of the local cath labs performin necessary cardiac interventions on the Syrian refugees. 

Your donations will help fund for the equipment and medications used for the cardiac procedures. Any extra funds left over will help cover the costs of future such medical relief trips,  as well as the other  projects under SAMS.
