Whether you’ve been touched by her infectious laughter, enveloped in one of her warm hugs, or inspired by her genuine kindness and generous spirit, you know that Monica Hansen is truly one of a kind. She is a devoted wife and mother of four, a cherished daughter, sister, friend, colleague, and neighbor. For 20 years, she has been an extraordinary preschool teacher in SVUSD, pouring her heart into nurturing young children and strengthening her community with compassion and dedication.

In September, she received a breast cancer diagnosis and is preparing for a challenging journey ahead. Her treatment plan includes months of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation as she fights with the same strength and grace she has always shown others. Unfortunately, the intensity of her treatment will prevent her from working for at least six months. Her available sick leave will cover only a portion of that time, leaving her family to rely on a single income while facing mounting medical bills, co-payments, and the day-to-day costs of running a household.
