Hi, my name is Liv and I’m fundraising for my cat, Frankie.

Frankie is 7 years old and a complete gentle giant. He is the light of our lives, along with his brother and sister. We adopted them as kittens from Cats Protection, after they had been rescued from horrendous living conditions.

A few days ago, he came home limping. He couldn’t put any pressure on his right leg. Frankie is a very street smart cat and never ventures far from home at all, so this was very unusual. Yesterday, after no improvement in his leg, we decided to take him to the emergency vet where he had an X-Ray that revealed he has somehow broken his leg. A likely cause of this is that he has been clipped by a car.

Because of the bone that has broken, it means he has to be seen by a specialist. We were given the options of invasive and risky surgery that may not work, or to amputate his leg. Both options cost thousands of pounds, money we do not have. The last option is to have him put to sleep, which is unthinkable since he is still completely his gentle, loving, caring self, and, other than his leg, he is in perfect health!

The cost of living crisis has, like many people, left us struggling and this is not a cost we ever fathomed having to pay. He’s only 7, we were expecting a few more years at least with our babies before any health scares happened.

So, while I feel major shame asking for help like this, I don’t feel like I have another option. For many of us, 2025 has been an awful year and my family is no exception to this. He’s a huge member of our little family, and is the happiest little guy. I cannot imagine him not being here, and he shouldn’t have to be put to sleep when he is otherwise in perfect health.
