Ciao, siamo Atena e Monica, due ragazze trans di 28 e 31 anni e da quasi un anno siamo rimaste disoccupate. Sebbene non ci diamo vinte e ancora ora continiamo a disperatamente cercare lavoro, la nostra situazione economica sta diventando sempre più insostenibile, facendo fatica anche a portare la cena in tavola.

Dalla nostre famiglie abbiamo solo ottenuto apatia se non addirittura rabbiosa transfobia, per Monica addirittura i rapporti con suo fratello si sono inaspriti ulteriormente da quando ha lasciato la Sicilia per trasferirsi a Napoli per vivere insieme e trovare maggior opportunità per il futuro. Per me, Atena, la mia famiglia continua a rifiutarsi di aiutarci materialmente, apateticamente lasciandoci al nostro destino nonostante le loro vite relativamente agiate, semplicemente perchè ci considerano "anormali" e quindi non degne della loro considerazione.

Abbiamo effettivamente esperienze lavorative e curriculum ben forniti, ma la situazione qui in Italia è estremamente precaria, anche tralasciando i soliti pregiudizi, chi più o meno velato, da parte dei datori di lavoro. Per ogni colloquio fatto ci scontriamo con il solito "Le faremo sapere", "La richiameremo", e sebbene non ci perdiamo d'animo la situazione è sconfortante e anche molto critica.

Abbiamo pensato che la cifra riportata sia abbastanza onesta, circa due stipendi medio-bassi per andare avanti qualche mese mentre continuiamo a cercare lavoro, soldi che andranno ovviamente spese per il nostro sostenimento, le utenze (di norma attorno ai 150), benzina e trasporti ed eventuali spese mediche sia basilari che per sostenere la nostra transizione.

Greetings, we're Athena and Monica, we're two trans women of age 28 and 31 respectively, and for almost a year we've been unemployed, and still we are. Although we're not yet surrendering and still we hope to eventually get employed, our current economic situation grow grimmer each day, struggling even to bring a decent meal on the table.

We have only received apathy, or even rabid bigotry, from our families. Monica's relation with her brother even got to a critical point ever since she moved to Naples to live together and find new prospects for her future. As for me, Athena, my own family just apathetically leave us to fend for ourselves, despite their well-to-do lifestyle, simply because they find us "Abnormal" and thus unworthy of their regard.

We do have quite the acceptable work experience, but the state of the economy and Job Market in Italy has become grim and highly precarious, even disregarding the general transphobia, either more or less apparent, we both usually encounter while being interviewed. With each job interview we participate we're hit with the usual "We'll let you know" and almost sarcastic "Let's stay in touch", and even though we're not giving up yet it's extremely disheartening and our means only gets worse each day.

We've thought that the goal amount is a fair one, around two typical months worth of wages, just to get by for a few months until we finally manage to land an employment, this money will, of course, be spent for our food and accommodation, utility bills, fuel and public transportation, and medical bills, which are also a result of our ongoing medical transition.
