Funeral Arrangements & Expenses

Donation protected
Our father, Duane T. Skovinski has ended his battle with cancer.  These last few days we have received a tremendous amount of support through phone calls and messages from people, near and far, wishing our family prayers and condolences.  Words could never truly show our appreciation.  The events of the past few days have proven to be a test of our faith and we are working on understanding why and how we have gotten to this point.

Less than 6 months ago our father was diagnosed with Transitional Cell Carcinoma, or more commonly known as Bladder Cancer.  Without knowing the stage of this aggressive cancer, my dad decided he would fight the hard fight.  We had no idea how long we had and now we are realizing that it wasn’t going to be long enough.

Our father was a proud, hardworking business owner and did everything he could to provide a beautiful life for his wife and kids.  When hard times came around, he always found a way.  Unfortunately, when his health took such a turn, he was unable to continue to work.  Medical bills, ER visits, hospital stays, copays, medications, treatments, etc. have taken a toll for the last few months.  Our father didn’t have life insurance and did not have a burial account.  So the family has had to take on this unexpected and costly expense.

We ask that, in lieu of flowers, please consider an offering to our funding account.  Your offering will go towards the final services, expenses, and any unpaid medical bills that were accrued.  The services have proven to be beyond our means.

The hardest part is over, and he is no longer suffering.  We are working to show our love and respect for him, as he was an amazing husband, father, family man and friend.  We are also inviting anyone who would like to say their final good-byes to attend the services at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel, on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at 2:00 pm.

Please know, again, that your presence and prayers have been much needed and appreciated, and we hope for God’s grace and understanding through this unexpected time of loss.
