There are many things to be said about Stacia. She is kind hearted, funny, loving, and would give the shirt off her back. Many know her for her fun loving, bubbly attitude. Little did she know she would be in for the fight of her life.
Stacia was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of September this year. She is to go through 6 rounds of chemotherapy, followed by a bilateral mastectomy.
The cancer has been responding well to the chemo. Stacia is doing okay, besides having to deal with the expected side effects of chemo, nausea, vomiting, exhaustion and having no appetite.
Stacia had her port placed on November 19th. She was to have conscious sedation for the procedure, however she was scheduled to work that same night, so she opted to only having a local anesthetic. She could not afford to call in sick or let her fellow coworkers down. The procedure was finished around 2 pm, and she went to work at 10:30 that night. You could say Stacia is a determined woman.
She has 4 more rounds of chemo to complete before she can have her surgery to remove the remaining tumors; her medical insurance may not pay for the whole cost of the surgery, due to the cancer is unilaterally located on her right side. It's not realistic to have a unilateral mastectomy... well it is, but only having 1 breast would look a little funny. Plus, she has been wanting a reduction for a while now.
This fundraiser is to help Stacia pay for her surgery and help with the costs of every day living following the surgery. Stacia is a single mom of 2 wonderful kids, and any funds left after the surgery is paid for, will help put food on the table and pay the bills while she recuperate. Even though she thinks she will be able to go back to work shortly after, she is going to need to take a few weeks off work. Any donation is greatly appreciated!
