In Loving Memory of Jorge Munoz

Hi my name is Jorge Munoz. I am a mexican american adult who lives in Burlingame, California. In November 2nd, 2011, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblasti Leukemia. Since then till now I have been struggling with my health. When I first started the chemotherapy a few months later I suffered a sever inflammation in the pancreas. I went inta a coma for about a month and I became a diabetic due to it. I also lost 90 pounds and had to regain weight and strength to walk again. Everything went fine for about a year and the Leukemia came back. My doctors decided to give me a bone marrow transplant. Luckily my brother was 100% compatible! I felt truely blessed. Upon receiving the transplant I had to get a lot of tests done for my organs and a weeks worth of radiation. Oh man, the radiation. It was the worst thing I had ever experienced. My head felt like exploding and the nausea was terrible. I stayed at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford for a month and I had to stay at the Ronald McDonald House for 100 days. It was tough staying there and when I left being home was great, but I still had to wait to get home. Unfortunately the water pipes in my apartment broke and flood my room and my parents room and I could not move in right away because of potential fungus that could be lurking. I waited about another two months, living in a hotel. After that about another year passed by and one day my face one numb on one side. I went to the doctors and they had told me I had relasped, again. I started chemo again and yet again it had disapeared. I still had to take oral chemo and monthly lumbar punctures with chemotherapy which causes my blood counts to get low. A few months later, I got a really bad infection. I had a total of 5 infections, I don't remember all of them but I did get ecoli and meningitis listeria. That put me down really hard. I was in coma for 2 months, and I stayed at Lucile Packard for 3 months and 1 month at Santa Clara Valley Therapy Hospital. I could not walk. Until now I've been struggling with my walking. I cannot walk and I am on a wheelchair. Its been more than half a year since I've been on my feet but slow and surely getting there. Having physical therapy 2 times a week and still monthy lumbar punctures. I've been given many chances in life and appreciate it. I am asking for help because my parents dont work much and don't have education. My dad works normally, but as a busser. My mother does not work and is always next to me to help me check my bloodsugar, especially when I'm on steroids. She helps me bathe, gives me food, helps me go to the bathroom, helps me with anything I need, helps me practice walking on my walker, and so many other things. I cannot be thankful enough for what she has done for me these past 4 years. I would like to help her out too, giving her money to buy groceries and a little something every now and then for all the work she has done with me. We also have transportation expenses. The hospital is about an hour away and also the therapy place every 2 weeks takes up time and money. Recently my manager raised our rent for 400 dollars and a 1000 dollar deposit. If you guys can help with that I would greatly appreciate it and I would like to help others when I can. This disease has brought me down, but I don't plan to give up. I wanted to study and get into a University right after Highschool but it wasn't possible, but there always time for everything and  I do plan to go to college and then a University. I want to thank everyone who has helped me through ths and that continue to do so. my family, friends, doctors, nurses, my highschool, even my middle school. So much thanks.
