Qld small businesses against the mandate
Donation protected
We are a group of small businesses and individuals (hospitality, accommodation & other industries) from all over Queensland that have come together to fight the discriminating and segregating mandate issued by the Queensland Government. After failing to fight these mandates by contacting, communicating, begging and arguing with our local, state and federal politicians we have seen no other way as to fight these mandates in court. We have filed a Judicial Review with the Supreme Court challenging the mandate. The file has been lodged in Cairns and the first hearing is on the 4th of February.
Donations made here will support legal efforts to fight these segregating mandates made by the State of Queensland, affecting businesses and individuals that either have not had their Covid-19 injection or do not want to infringe the personal medical privacy of their staff or customers. The donations from this GoFundMe will go into the account of Birgit Machnitzke and from there invoices in regards to this lawsuit will be paid. These invoices will be made transparent here on the GoFundMe page. So far costs of just under $7000 have been paid by two of the participating businesses out of their own pocket.
The current challenges against the mandates are:
Machnitzke and others v Dr Peter Aitken (First Respondent) and Dr John Gerrard (Second Respondent) Supreme Court Cairns 9/2022
Our legal representatives are Macquarie Legal, Brisbane
We are only a small group of businesses and individuals that have taken on the risk to challenge these draconian orders as the costs of this court case is estimated between $80,000 and $170,000 and many fear the risk. The Government knows that small businesses won’t have the financial capacity to push back legally, let alone after the past 2 years.
Therefore, we urgently need help from our community as we can’t fight this with our limited financial capacities. You can help by sharing our GoFundMe page and if you can spare a small amount, we will be humbled and grateful for every single donation.
