Help Carna to put a roof over her family's head

Hi, My name is Nikki and I am fundraising for a fantastic friend, Carna, who is remaining brilliantly positive whilst facing being homeless and living with cancer.

I first met Carna, teaching in a school, in Dubai, and the best description for her is 'child whisperer'. She is absolutely magical with children and their needs. We quickly became firm friends.

Carna and her family moved to Dubai in 2019 and rented their fully furnished home in the UK, to a family who was struggling financially. They stocked the cupboards with food, ordered a grocery delivery for their first week and set the rent significantly below the market value to help the family financially.

Fast forward to February 2022; Carna gave the tenants notice that they would return in May. Unfortunately, Carna was diagnosed with cancer and following treatments, did not return to the UK until July.

Unfortunately, the family renting Carna's home in the UK refused to move out and stopped paying rent and Carna and her family are now homeless. They are currently sofa surfing and her husband is working night shifts to help ease sleeping arrangements.

After trying to support the family living in her home, Carna has had to seek legal help, which is expensive, and she and her family have been told it could be months before anything changes. With the cost of legal fees and the tenants not paying rent, Carna and her family cannot afford to rent somewhere else to live while they wait.

If you are lucky enough to have Carna in your life, you will know what an unbelievably caring, selfless person she is who would do anything to help others.

Now it is our turn. Our friend is homeless, beating cancer and being a fabulous mum to her gorgeous children. Please donate what you can. Even the smallest amount can help Carna and her family to afford a roof over their heads and pay for the legal support to reclaim their family home.
