On June 2nd, 2020, my mother, whom I refer to as my Nanay Quesa, was admitted to the hospital due to serious bleeding in the abdomen. She is 76 years old and takes pride in the life she has led so far as a retired teacher, an extremely caring wife, and a wonderful grandmother to my children. She has a wonderful husband who is also a retired teacher and three amazing grandchildren who look up to my Nanay as an inspiration. She was readmitted to the hospital on July 25th, 2020, due to complications concerning Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
It is my Nanay Quesa’s 77th birthday this coming August 16th and we hope to celebrate another year of life with her, despite the pandemic, which is keeping us apart. My Nanay Quesa has gone through a multitude of procedures and changes in her life but continues to fight and keep a smile on her face.
The medical bills are difficult to keep up with, as she does not have the same healthcare benefits in the Philippines as she would in Canada. I have and will continue to go to great lengths to sustain the life of my Nanay Quesa, but due to these unprecedented times, finances have been tight and we continue to struggle to pay the medical bills in the Philippines. My family and I are experiencing a great deal of emotional and financial stress due to the concern of paying for the medical attention my Nanay requires.
As the only son to my Nanay Quesa, a father to her loving grandchildren, and a human being who cares deeply about this sweet, compassionate, woman, I urge you to consider donating whatever you can to support my family. If you are not able to help financially, I ask that you please keep my Nanay in your thoughts and prayers, as we fight this battle together with her.
Thank you for taking the time to read this link and we greatly appreciate your support through these tough times.
Thank you,
Andy Magbanua
