Help Us Save Xena – A Sweet Dog Who Deserves a Second Chance

Hi, my name is Emma, and I’m reaching out with a full heart and a deep hope that you’ll read our story.

Xena came into my life unexpectedly, but it feels like fate. She started out with my friend and her partner as a puppy, but after they split, Xena ended up in a terrible situation—tied up and neglected. Thankfully, because her microchip was still in my friend’s name, she was returned. But my friend, overwhelmed by the stress, couldn’t cope and didn’t want to keep her.

I offered to take Xena temporarily while we looked for a new home for her. I didn’t realize at the time just how difficult it would be to rehome her, especially given the legal restrictions around her breed. But something incredible happened: within a couple of weeks, I fell completely in love.

Then came the most heartbreaking moment—my friend said she was going to have Xena put down. I couldn’t let that happen. By then, Xena and I had formed a strong bond. I didn’t want another dog; I already have a 15-year-old husky who lives with my in-laws due to his health and my small house. But Xena had already found her place in my heart and home.

Despite the challenges of being a single mum to three kids, Xena has brought incredible comfort to our lives. She senses when I’m upset, curls up beside me and my baby at night, and shows nothing but love and gentleness. She’s unbelievably soft and kind—even letting my toddler touch her food or take toys from her mouth without a fuss. She follows me everywhere and pines for me when I’m not around.

Xena isn’t just a dog—she’s our pride and joy. She wasn’t wanted before, but now she’s deeply loved.

I’ve done everything I can to give her a safe future. I sold my car to pay for her spay surgery by the legal deadline, insured her, and started the legal proceedings to exempt her so she can stay with us legally. I’ve spent:

• £450 on her spay and vet care

• £250 to begin the legal exemption process

• £100 on leads, a muzzle, and other essentials

But the full cost of her court exemption is more than I can manage alone. I’m not working regularly right now, and everything I’ve spent has come at the expense of my kids and our basic needs.

I’m asking—truly begging—for help to save Xena. Any donation, no matter how small, will bring us closer to keeping her safe and legally part of our family. She’s given us comfort through difficult times, especially as we’ve been facing serious family health issues. We just want to give her the love and life she deserves.
