The info below will give you some insight into who Tonya Brown really is...
Tonya is a hard-working woman who has been in the nuclear industry for the past 20 yrs. As of late, she is a member of the Refurbishment Project team at Darlington Nuclear Generating Station.
Tonya is a devoted mother of 2, Christina (25yrs) and Hannah (13yrs) and wife to Christopher Brown, (High school sweethearts) through and through.
Residing back in their hometown of Marmora where they grew up as kids/teenagers, Tonya and Chris built their humble dream log home located approximately 20 minutes north of Marmora. Tonya and Chris continue to run part of the BROWN Family Farm, and venture to establish their own line of natural honey from their hobby honeybee business.
Recently Tonya has taken ill and has been diagnosed with melanoma (an aggressive stage of skin cancer). Cancer has been found throughout her body including her thyroid, lungs, stomach, and bowels. Routine life as we know it has halted to a dead stop for Tonya and her family as they address her newfound illness. Doctors started a treatment of Immunotherapy as Chemotherapy is not an option. Chris retired from the army with a medical release due to injury, and with Tonya now in the hospital 24/7 life has become extremely challenging.
Doctors are actively running different theories, treatments and are continually testing and monitoring her condition to ensure the best care for Tonya.
The Browns and Bucks have stepped in to support Tonya and her family with around-the-clock visitation shared by all. This is to assist her with her needs as they arise and to ensure she has company and support so she knows she is not alone in this fight. A familiar face in the time of pain and grief helps ease the suffering she is going through and gives her strength to keep pushing forward.
So far many have graciously shown support by helping out with the family and stepping in to assist Tonya. The overwhelming response has been humbling and has made us realize that in the face of life-altering news and challenges ahead, we have the generosity and kindness of our family, friends, coworkers, and the community. It has restored our faith in humanity and allowed us to focus on Tonya and her health THANKS TO YOU.
Tonya is achieving a better quality of life slowly but it takes time and she has a very long road ahead. We thank everyone for their continued prayers, support, and daily generosity.
- John Buck (Tonya's Brother)
