Our dear friend Seth Hicks was recently diagnosed with ALS. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) , commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, causing death of motor neurons and muscle wasting. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to the death of the victims of this horrible disease. Seth is now a patient at the Duke ALS Clinic. A team of specialists will work together to ensure he is provided with the best care possible.
Seth, Kim, and their 9yo daughter Tiernan have been through a lot over the past year as they've sought a diagnosis for Seth's worsening condition. As you might well expect the medical bills have already begun to rack up and this will only grow as his treatments continue. Additionally, they are facing the eventual need for some necessary home renovations in order to make their home and life more accessible for Seth.
