Hello everyone my name is Christopher Wilson.  I am currently a junior at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).  My educational and career goal is to complete my degree in Biology and work in the field of Genetics and Research.  I am excited about the future prospects of doing research and making contributions to the scientific world.  My other interests are Theatre and writing.  I have been writing stories since I was 11 years old and I hope to someday write a book.

I was diagnosed with Autism / Asperger Syndrome when I was five years old.  I am blessed to have a family who were determined that I would have a normal childhood. Overcoming the challenges of Autism has not been easy.  My Dad taught me that a successful life requires work and challenges are meant to be conquered. He told me to always be myself and to never stop trying. Most importantly he told me that I was his “Hero”.   Hearing those words from him made me even more determined to succeed.  With the help of God and my family I have been able to accomplish things that some have said were not possible for someone who has autism.  Living with Autism has definitely made me a stronger and better person.

During middle and high school I took advanced placement classes in calculus and language. I was very involved in school activities.  I was a member of the student council and competed as a distance runner on the track team. I participated in music and theatre productions. I was also a member of a select award winning high school choir that performed locally and in Europe. In 2010 I traveled with my choir to Prague, Czech Republic; Bratislava, Slovakia and Vienna, Austria.  It was an experience I will never forget and sparked an interest in worldwide travel.

In 2010 I graduated from high school and attended Monroe Community College in my hometown of Rochester, New York. After my Dad passed away tragically and suddenly in 2012.  My Mom moved us to her hometown of Huntsville, Alabama. We struggled to cope with our loss and regain a sense of normalcy.   I was not able to return to college until the fall of 2013 when I enrolled in UAH. In March 2014, I went on a mission trip to Wichita, Kansas with the campus Baptist Christian Ministry.    I have been a member of the UAH Theatre Club for two years and I am currently serving as the President.

I am writing this because I am having some financial issues that threaten to interrupt my education.  My mother and grandmother are doing everything they can to keep me and my sister in college but they are financially exhausted. There is a hold on my student account that requires me to pay $2,425.00 in order to return to school.  I am asking you, my friends and family in New York, Alabama and around the country to help me pay this bill so that I can continue my education. Any amount you can afford $100, $50, $20, $10, $5, $1, or any combination in between would be most appreciated.  I need to have this paid before August 19th 2015 in order to register for classes. I assure you I am not asking for help without trying to help myself. When I return to school I will be working on campus and that income will be applied directly to my school expenses.

I want to say thank you to all my friends and family from New York and Alabama who have helped to bring me this far. I appreciate your support and assistance in helping me to realize my dream.

God Bless you!
