When Tina Vargas started losing her sight three years ago, she was scared, for herself and for her three children, especially her eldest son, Neil—he was 12 years old and has been wheelchair-bound for his entire life. He is completely dependent on his mother for everything, from feeding to bathing him.
Tina knew as she lost her vision, she would lose the ability to help her son.
Today, she feels taking care of Neil is more difficult than ever—he is now 15 years old, and most of the time, she is the only one available to tend to him, as her husband works 12-hour days running his business.
She doesn’t have any central vision left, so what she can do to help him is very limited. Something as simple as feeding him is a huge struggle because she’s unable to see his face. Without her sight, she feels helpless—the burden of responsibility gets heavier every day, and it is becoming too much for Tina to handle.
When Tina tried eSight, she was shocked to realize that she was able to see her daughter's face for the first time in years. Her mother was crying as she watched Tina read again and see faces across the room. It was an emotional experience that gave Tina hope for her future.
She cannot wait to start her life with her eSight! She wants to, in her words, “go back to the way things were”—helping her kids with their homework, cooking meals on her own, and, most importantly, feeling in control of her own life.
Unfortunately, Tina and her family cannot get eSight without your help. The cost of the glasses is high, but the rewards they will bring to Tina's life are even greater. Any donation you can give is extremely appreciated!
