Dearest friends and family, and anyone else this may touch - unfortunately my dad was involved in a severe car accident on 10/01/15. My dad, Ky Ong, is such a generous man. He is a great husband, father, and friend to many, and we all love him so much. Anyone who knows him knows very well of his kind heart. He is incredibly giving, caring, and genuinely wants others to be happy without asking for anything in return. He is always willing to lend a helping hand, loves to cook for his friends and family (which he is amazing at) and enjoys laughing and spending time with us. He works as a driver for an automachine company and while waiting at a red light on route for a pick-up in San Bruno, CA, another car crashed into his. The other driver was driving recklessly at such a high speed it caused an impact so hard, it tore my dad's seatbelt apart and ejected him through the driver's side window of his truck. He sustained multiple injuries including broken ribs to his left side, which punctured his intestines and lungs and led to acute respiratory failure, along with a minor brain injury with bleeding there, upper spinal/cervical fractures and chest bone fractures. So far, he has had a few surgeries in his abdominal area to stop the internal bleeding and drain excess fluids within his intestines and lungs and try to repair them. However, the damage to his lungs and entire left side ribcage is so severe, it caused such bad infections that the tissues surrounding his lungs are dead. The infections in that area also spread to his bloodstream. Right now his condition is too unstable for the doctors to perform additional surgery to open his chest to clean out the bacteria and remove the dead tissue. His breathing is being supported by a machine, he is being fed through a tube, and is still fighting for his life in the ICU. At this point, we don't know if he will survive or not... This is a very difficult time for our family and my mom, Oanh Nguyen, has been so strong. She is a very private person and not the type to ask for help. I've heard of all the contributions received through this website and thought it would be a great aid to our family, so I went ahead and created this gofundme account. Since my dad has been in the ICU and out of work and my mom is taking time off to be by his side to care for him, any contributions to help with all of our expenses as a result of this tragedy will be greatly appreciated...
