In May of 2021 Amy Turner was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. She had to be in Vancouver for the duration of her treatment both as an inpatient and also as an out patient. In March of 2022 Amy was able to return to Terrace and continue the last of her treatment at home, while being the primary support for her mother, also struggling with cancer.
In August of 2024 the Leukaemia returned. Amy was medevac'd to Vancouver. She has had a rocky road of repeat hospitalizations and scary infections. She was scheduled for a Stem Cell transplant originally set for November but postponed to January because of a scary hospitalization and a fungal infection.
On January 9 a bone marrow biopsy revealed that the leukaemia, believed to be responding well to treatment, had returned with ferocity. The transplant has been cancelled. Amy has been told that her options are limited.
Amy has chosen to continue her fight. She will be taking a form of Chemo (Inotuzumab) which will consist of 5 or 6 21 day cycles. There will be a two week break between cycles where she could potentially go home. She was admitted on January 14 and started treatment the next day. After 6 days, they will assess how Amy is responding. If she does well, the rest of the treatment can be done as an outpatient.
Amy and her close circle are in Vancouver, away from the support and love of those they could draw strength from. They face the mounting expense of living in Vancouver navigating a path through, and potentially the ridiculous costs associated with flying between Vancouver and Terrace.
This GoFund Me is for us all to make a tiny difference in difficult days and show Amy and her team how much we love them.
Thank you for considering, donating, sharing.
Amy we love you.
