Hi. My name is Katie Kiss and I'm the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission.

Myself and my colleagues at the AHRC and the Australian Productivity Commission are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague Tara Apps. Tara was a strong and proud Ngunnawal Wiradjuri woman, a much loved and valued member of both organisations, and a dear friend to many of us. We pay tribute to the courage, compassion and commitment she brought to her work advancing the rights, wellbeing and aspirations of First Peoples across Australia.

We also express our deepest sympathies to her family and loved ones, and we open our hearts to them during this difficult time. To help them honour Tara's memory and cope with her loss, I'm asking members of both Commissions to consider making a donation to assist with the cost of the funeral as well as other expenses related to the wellbeing of her children Lani, Brylee, Huxley and Harper

Your support will be gratefully received and will provide much needed help for the family as they navigate their heartbreaking grief and loss.
