Francisco Xavier is our dear 26-year-old cousin from Trinidad, Bolivia, in the heart of South America. One year ago, doctors detected a tumor in his kidney which turned out to be a very rare form of cancer called Renal Medullary Carcinoma. For some reason, this type of cancer tends to strike in young men.
Because the condition is rare, he has had to seek treatment outside of Bolivia, and left to Sao Paulo, Brazil for a short time. In Brasil, they realized that the cancer had advanced due to its unusual aggressiveness. This cancer is characterized by its ability to metastasize to other organs very quickly.
Francisco is now seeking treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, and we would like to help him manage the cost of his stay and the cost of his treatment.
Though his fight has been long and hard, his beautiful 7-year-old daughter and his entire family keep his spirits up and optimism high during this trying time. We are all hopeful for this treatment so that he may return healthy to Bolvia as soon as possible!
