Help Our Hive

Welcome to Churchland Elementary School, where every student is proud to be a Hornet, and our hive is our home. Let me tell you something about our Hornets. They are some of the brightest, kindest, and most gifted kids that you could meet. They look out for their neighbor, always eager to lend a helping hand, shoulder, or an ear. It’s funny how kids can sometimes teach you lessons you didn’t know you needed to learn.

Elementary School is the foundation where it all starts, you know, the “building blocks” for the future. Something so elementary, so fundamental, has one of the biggest impacts on our lives. Something that was modeled for us from a young age by some of the strongest and most dedicated individuals we know is to love your neighbor as yourself. It's that easy, that simple, that “elementary”!

So that is why we have come here, to GoFundMe. To ask you, our neighbor, to help us model one of the most elementary, yet impactful lessons we can learn - how to love our neighbor as ourselves. Churchland Elementary School PTO wants to bring some long overdue life back to our campus! Our dream, mission, and hope is to find a way to provide a new commercial playground to our students! Will you step up and help us show our Hornets that they are seen and valued?

Our students have the amazing opportunity to live in a rural area on the Western side of Davidson County in North Carolina. We are a Title I (low income, high poverty) School. Our student population is 411 students, with approximately 70% on free and reduced lunch. Our current playground is roughly 25 years old, 25 years well loved, and 25 years well weathered. The cost to replace the equipment falls solely on our Title I Elementary School. As you can imagine the funds are not there, and if we don’t make the attempt to help our students, the playground won't be there either. Please help us show our students that when we work together, when we choose to love our neighbor as ourselves, incredible things can happen.
